Legal Services

The common thread among the services we offer is putting our clients in a position to make good decisions.

An illness or an accident can render you unable to manage your affairs on your own. Planning ahead ensures that your family and loved ones are aware of how you want your affairs — both medical and financial — managed if you are no longer able to make these decisions on your own.

Planning ahead not only allows our clients to be good decision makers, but it also gives them the luxury of time to investigate options to find the right fit for them and their situations. But even if you haven't made a plan, it's never too late. We can help you do what's right for you and your loved ones.

Financing Long-term Care:

There are a variety of ways to finance long-term care; each has its own advantages, requirements and complexities. We help our clients determine the best option for them and guide them through the often complicated process of accessing the chosen option. We can help with:

• Medicare
• Medical Assistance
• Veterans Benefits
• Long Term Care Insurance Analysis
• Home- and Community-Based Services

Powers of Attorney:

A Power of Attorney provides for financial management during capacity and incapacity and is an important tool to enable you to choose the decision maker you want.

Health Care Directives:

A health care directive allows you to name someone to make health care decisions for you if you are unable to do so.

Supplemental Needs Trusts/Special Needs Trusts:

Supplemental Needs Trusts and Special Needs Trusts are trusts created for a chronically and severely disabled beneficiary. They supplement government benefits, such as Medicaid, rather than diminishing such benefits.

Applying for Medical Assistance:

We handle all aspects of the Medical Assistance application, from putting together the information for the application to meeting with county staff to get approval.

Guardianship/Conservatorship:

Guardianship and conservatorship are intended to protect and provide continuing care for individuals who are unable to make or communicate reasonable decisions for themselves. We help our clients through the necessary court proceedings.

Probate

Probate is the court proceeding through which the estate of a decedent is administered. We help our clients with this proceeding and with all of the aspects of estate administration.
